Pinus parviflora ´Tani Mano Uki´

Japanese White Pine
Zone 5-9
1"-2"/ year
2´-3´/ 10 years
mounding

Good things come in small packages. While appropriate, this phrase seems to be hardly adequate in describing  the Japanese Snow Pine, ´Tani Mano Uki´.  This extremely slow growning (only about 2´ in 10 years) selection forms low mound.  Its green needles are variegated with white, and it pushes showy pink candles in the spring.  Small and unobtrusive, this  minature marvel is so delicate and beautiful with its snow kissed variegation, that it needs to occupy a special place in the garden, a place where it can be enjoyed and admired for the oriental treasure that it is.
