This is the traditional "Dragon´s Eye Pine", so named for the bands of yellow variegation that are hilighted on the green needles in the summer months. When observed from a perspective at the outer edge of the branch, it is said that these bands and the central bud, give the appearance of a "dragon´s eye". As the heat of the summer intensifies, so does the degree of coloring on the needles.
