Hinoki cypress
Zone 5-8
2´x2´ @ 10 years
1"-2" /year
Miniature, globose - partial shade
Named for the Long Island bonsai artist Joe Reis, it would be easy to mistake the name of this diminutive hinoki as being a shortened form of "junior". This dense, rounded, slow growing variety is perfect for the rock garden, or small landscape area. It tends to spread a bit wider with age, but still will only get to be about 2´ across in 10 years. Protection from the rays of the afternoon sun in warmer climates will keep it looking its best.
